Rahne stood in front of the now finished Grey School for Higher Learning and smiled. If truth be told, the place looked like a bit of a mish-mosh of architectural styles and building materials, but it was home.

Not that Rahne didn't like the X-Men's other home in San Francisco, but this was sacred ground to her. She had grown up here, and so had her friends. And it wasn't like California was all that far away now that the mystics had set up portals to pop there and back in a jiffy.

As she looked around  at students new and old moving into the dorms, Rahne turned to see if Jamie was there yet. She wasn't certain how Jamie felt about all this moving back and forth business, and at times she feared he might feel used and abused by those who saw him as a one man moving company and not as a valued friend and teammate.

"Santo, please help the younger students with their gear!" she shouted to Rockslide as some of the younger X-Men arrived from San Francisco.

Jamie twisted his waist while pulling on his left arm to stretch while 4 other duplicates laid spread out on the grass exhausted from the long hours of work. He took a long deep breath with his hands on his hips feeling proud of their accomplishments. "Well fellas we did great work here, once we rest up a bit we should finish up the expansion sections." Loud moans grumble from he duplicates at the mention of more work.

Jamie laughed scratching the back of his head, "Ok Ok.. maybe tomorrow then, we should.." Jamie's eyes focused on a very familiar figure directing staff and students. ".. take the rest of the day off for sure."

The duplicates gathered around Jamie peering around him to see what he was looking at. "ooooh we get it."

"Yeah yeah.. time to rest up boys" Jamie absorbed his duplicates back into himself then started off toward the familiar person he spotted.

Jamie ran up to Rahne from behind slipping an arm around her shoulder as he leaned forward grinning at her, "Hero's day is never done it seems" he chuckled slamming his fists together creating 10 duplicates all springing to action to help direct students and help with gear. "Was hoping for a couple days off, but guess it couldn't be helped. I remember being excited to come back to school here all those years ago. Even just visiting.. I could almost picture Gui.." Jamie's voice trailed off mentioning his friend. "Well we had some awesome fun times, yeah"

Jamie circled around Rahne "And you are so darn cute in that outfit." He teasingly squeezed her cheeks while making cutesy faces at her.

Rahne smiled as she looked up at Jamie, and she didn't mind his very playful nature one bit at the moment. She did feel bad that many of the other X-Men had not shown up yet to pitch in with getting the students settled into their rooms. "Let the upper classmen help, Jamie," she said as she gave him a hug. "You did more than your fair share. And I think about Guido a lot, too, especially on days like this one."

So many of the staff seemed to be staying in California, and others like Illyana and Piotr had gone home to see family and friends. The student population had just as many mystics as mutants now, and the kids, at times, tried to get into "discussions" about which group was better. It drove Wolfsbane crazy, but she chalked it up to too many powered beings with raging hormones crammed into a small space.

"I was thinking, maybe we should go to Harry's when we get this lot settled," Rahne said to Jamie with a big smile. "I would not mind a bit of relaxation, and I'm sure you could use more than a bit yourself."

Before she could say another word, Quentin Quire and Jubilee walked by, discussing in very loud tones why he could not just walk into the new mystic compound across Breakstone Lake and borrow some magic doodad or other.  "See? Jubilee is on the case! Maybe she can handle things for a bit?"

Jamie laughed looking at all the students then let out a soft sigh while smiling with his eyes closed, "Yeah Guido would be goofing off with the students more than helping." He opened his eyes imagining Guido carrying students into the school while other students hung from his arms and neck. More than anything he really missed his friend, luckily for him Rahne had always been there for him. Keeping him cheerful and hopeful, despite all they had been through.


Jamie smiled coyly at Rahne then tapped his chin eyeing her, "Rahne.. when did you get psychic abilities? I was just thinking about grabbing a nice cold drink and chilli fries."

Seeing Jubes and others walk passed, Jamie took Rahne's hand and started walking off. "Ok, I think the others can handle things from here. I'll leave a few fresh copies just to be sure." Jamie turned around as he walked tugging Rahne with him as he smiled at her. "Remember you promised to share some ice cream too."

Cain stood watching from afar, not afraid but nervous to being at the school grounds again. He had both great memories and horrible nightmares. He still had friends within the group but he also was hoping they didn't feel like he abandoned them when he could have helped. Returning was a promise he made to a special person, even if it was just to help when they decided to return. He took a deep breath and proceeded toward the school. His shadow grew larger as he approached, his focus was straight ahead while his eyes scanned the area. Suddenly he bumped into someone, his eyes slowly moved to stare down angrily at the person.


Jamie slowly turned around looking up at the huge giant of a man. "Woooah.. sorry there big.. fella.. Cain? Wow.. errr ... why are you here?" Jamie gripped Rahne's hand tugging her and stepping between her and Cain.

Cain crossed his arms staring down at the two. "Thats none of your business kid. My business here is my own. Now bugger off before I squish you."

Jamie narrowed his eyes then smiled patting Cain's arm before walking passed him, "Oookiedokie.. Take care big guy"

Cain sighed and walked off pulling his coat tighter to hide his armor. {{Why did I ever promise what I did.. Such a pain to be here}} Cain continued on toward the school picking up supply crates along the way.

Rahne looked up at Cain and gulped as she wondered if he had heard anything from Cyclops about his search for Xavier. Charles had seemingly been killed a few years ago, but the disappearance of his body left Scott feeling very uneasy and unsure about the finality of Xavier's end. Scott had gone off almost immediately to locate his mentor, and even Emma had not gotten many regular updates on what he was doing.

"Jamie, just a second," Wolfsbane said as she walked back up behind Cain. "Cain, Scott hasn't come back yet, but if you want to know about his search for Charles, Emma would be the best person to talk to. She's still in California, but one of the mystics or telepaths could get in touch with her quickly. I'm sorry I can't give you more concrete news on the situation."

As she sighed heavily, Rahne shook her head as she waited to see if Cain had anything he wanted or needed to say. "Jamie and I were headed out, but Jubilee is here and is, for the moment anyway, off in the dorms helping the new students settle in. The others are coming back in dribs and drabs. I think Logan is across the lake at that new mystic compound. You can't miss it. All the dragons flying around the place is a dead giveaway."

Jamie watched Rahne talk with the hulking brute which he had many mixed feelings about, the lines these days blurred unknowing now who is the bad guy and who is the good guy. With the constant battles sides switched so often. He walked up behind Rahne placing a hand to her shoulder. "Head over to Harry's later for drinks if you wish"

Cain's eyes shifted away when Rahne mentioned Charles, he gave a short nod then slowly placed a hand to her head. "Thanks fur ball" He smiled down at her then proceeded toward the dorms "I'll see Logan after I make a quick stop in the Dorms." Cain gave a quick glance back at Rahne.

Jamie eyed Cain curiously rubbing his chin thoughtlessly. {{Wonder what he is really doing here.. why now.. Could it be connected with Xavier and Scott.. the Mystics. hmm...}} After Rahne concluded their discussion he created two copies of himself that started tailing Cain to observe and perhaps gather information why Cain had come.
